Same Day Junk Removal in Pensacola: How to Get on Today's Schedule

By Pelican Haul-Off ·

Same day junk removal in Pensacola is possible, but it depends on two things: an open slot on the schedule and a quote you can say yes to quickly. The fastest route is to text clear photos early in the day, along with your ZIP code and whether there are stairs. With Pelican Haul-Off, we text back a price and the soonest pickup time. If there is room today, today is what we offer. If not, we tell you the next opening so you can plan.

This guide covers how to get on today's schedule, why the county and city bulk programs can't move that fast, and what a junk removal price usually covers.

How same day pickup works, step by step

  1. Take photos of everything you want gone. One wide shot of the pile plus a close shot of anything large or heavy is ideal.
  2. Text them to (850) 273-8546 with your ZIP code and whether we will be carrying items up or down stairs.
  3. We text back a price and the soonest pickup time. The quote is free.
  4. When we arrive, the price is confirmed with you before anything is loaded.
  5. We load it onto our pickup truck and trailer and haul it away.

A single item is a normal job. One couch, one mattress or one dresser does not need to wait until you have a full load.

Why public bulk pickup can't happen today

Curbside bulk programs are a good deal if you can wait, but they all run on notice. Here is what the official pages say, as posted in October 2026. Rules change, so check the linked pages before you rely on them.

OptionWho can use itHow much notice
ECUA bulk pickupECUA sanitation customers in unincorporated Escambia CountyRequest by 1:59 p.m. the day before your scheduled pickup day
City of Pensacola Special CollectionCity sanitation customersMust be arranged by phone or online form, and scheduled collection costs much less than unscheduled
Perdido Landfill (do it yourself)Anyone with a truckOpen Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday until 3:30 p.m.; large loads that need hand unloading should arrive 30 minutes before closing

ECUA also asks you to put bulk items out the night before your collection day and no earlier than 48 hours ahead, and it takes one pile per week no larger than 6 feet by 6 feet by 6 feet. Our ECUA bulk pickup guide walks through those rules. If you can wait for your pickup day, that route is worth using.

How to make same day more likely

Most of what slows a same day job happens before anyone shows up. A few habits help:

  • Text early. Morning texts have the best chance of fitting into today's route.
  • Send the whole picture. Include every item, not just the biggest one. A surprise second couch can change the quote and the timing.
  • Mention the path out. Stairs, a narrow hallway, a gate code or tight parking are all worth saying up front.
  • Stage what you can. If items are already in the garage, carport or by the front door, loading goes faster. Do not hurt yourself moving something heavy; that is our job.
  • Separate what stays. Put anything you are keeping in another room or mark it clearly.
  • Empty drawers and cabinets. Dressers and nightstands are lighter and safer to carry empty.

If a mattress might have bed bugs, say so in your text and bag it if you can. Our mattress disposal guide covers the EPA's advice on wrapping and marking infested items.

Some things no junk hauler should take on a regular load. Paint, chemicals, pesticides, propane tanks and similar household hazardous waste go to the county instead. Escambia County accepts those items from county residents at the Perdido Landfill drop off at no charge, Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., as posted in October 2026. We also do not haul concrete, roofing, dirt or whole house cleanouts. When in doubt, text a photo and we will tell you.

What is the minimum price for junk removal?

There is no single answer, because every hauler sets its own pricing. Most junk removal prices come down to the same few things:

  • How much space the load takes in the truck or trailer
  • What the items are, since some are heavy or awkward
  • Labor, especially stairs, long carries and tight spaces
  • Disposal costs at the landfill or transfer station

Disposal is a real cost, not a made up fee. Escambia County's fee schedule, as posted in October 2026, charges $45.06 per ton for solid waste at Perdido Landfill with an $11.64 minimum per load.

When you see a low advertised minimum, read what it includes. Low starting prices usually assume a small, light item that is easy to reach, with stairs, extra items and disposal priced on top. The safest way to compare is a written price for your actual items. That is why we ask for photos: the price we text is based on what you showed us, and it is confirmed with you before loading. Our couch removal guide compares the hauler route with every do it yourself option for a single sofa.
