Where to Dump Furniture in Pensacola (and When Not to Bother)

By Pelican Haul-Off ·

If you are wondering where to dump furniture in Pensacola, the short answer is: your curbside bulk pickup if you have one, Escambia County's Perdido Landfill in Cantonment, the county's Oak Grove center in the north end, the Santa Rosa County Central Landfill in Milton, or a charity if the piece is in good shape. The right choice depends less on the furniture than on whether you have a truck, a helper and a free afternoon. Below are the options ranked from least effort to most, with fees and hours as posted in October 2026. They change, so check the linked pages before you go.

Curbside bulk is the easiest if you can get the piece to the curb and wait. ECUA takes one pile per week no bigger than 6 feet by 6 feet by 6 feet, and you must request it by 1:59 p.m. the day before your pickup day. Our ECUA bulk pickup guide has the details. Inside city limits, see our guide to City of Pensacola bulk trash pickup.

Oak Grove is a smaller county site in the north end of Escambia County, open Friday and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It measures your load by the cubic yard rather than weighing it, and it does not take tires.

The Santa Rosa County Central Landfill at 6337 Da Lisa Road in Milton is open Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with vehicles asked to arrive by 4:30 p.m. It accepts cash, checks and major credit cards.

Is there a landfill in Pensacola?

Not inside the city itself. The county landfill that serves Pensacola is Perdido Landfill at 13009 Beulah Road in Cantonment, run by Escambia County Waste Services. As posted, it is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday until 3:30 p.m., closed Sunday. Loads that need hand unloading should arrive at least 30 minutes before closing or come back the next business day. Bring a tarp: the county lists a $7.02 fee for an uncovered load from an individual. Our Perdido Landfill guide covers the visit step by step.

If your trailer carries paint cans or chemicals along with the furniture, the county treats it as a split load. It asks you to stop at the household hazardous waste drop off first, then go on to the convenience center for the rest. HHW drop off is free for Escambia County residents.

Do furniture stores dispose of old furniture?

Sometimes, and it is worth asking before you buy. The City of Gulf Breeze points out on its waste pages that many furniture and appliance retailers will haul away the old item at no charge when they deliver the new one. Policies vary by store, so ask at checkout, not on delivery day.

Donation is the other free route for good pieces. The Pensacola Habitat for Humanity ReStore lists bed frames, bookshelves, chairs, dressers, entertainment centers and tables among the furniture it accepts. It turns down items that are torn, soiled, broken or damaged by pets, upholstered pieces with stains or odors, and heavy executive desks.

When not to bother

Doing it yourself makes sense when you already own a truck, the piece is light, and the landfill is on your way. It stops making sense when:

  • You would have to rent or borrow a truck for a single item.
  • The furniture is upstairs, oversized, or needs two strong people.
  • Your bulk pickup day is a week out and the piece has to be gone sooner.
  • You are not sure it will pass a charity's condition check, and a rejected load means a second trip.

Whatever you do, don't leave furniture beside a dumpster or on an empty lot. It will still need to be removed, and it becomes someone else's cleanup.

The no trip option

If none of these sound like how you want to spend a Saturday, our junk hauling service picks up furniture from inside your home, garage or curb. Single items are normal jobs. Text photos to (850) 273-8546 with your ZIP code and whether there are stairs. We reply with a price and the soonest pickup time, same day when available, and confirm the price before anything is loaded. Mention the website for $20 off your first pickup.
