Hours, fees and pickup rules change, especially after storms and at the start of a new fiscal year. Every line below links to the official page it came from. Confirm with Bradenton or Manatee County before you load the truck.
Who picks up trash in Bradenton
- The City of Bradenton Solid Waste Division collects household trash, yard debris and bulk items from city residents.[1]
- Each home gets one green cart for garbage and one blue cart for unbagged yard waste.[1]
- Extra green garbage carts cost an additional fee that is added to your utility bill.[1]
- Recycling is handled through city drop-off sites, and Bradenton residential utility bills have never had a separate recycling charge.[4]

Bulk trash pickup in Bradenton
- Bulk pickup is by request: call 941-708-6340 to schedule, and have items at the curb by 6 a.m. on your collection day.[2]
- Bulk pickup costs a flat $10 per item, added to your utility bill.[2]
- You must call within 48 hours of setting items at the curb to schedule the pickup.[2]
- If you do not call, you may be charged a $300 illegal dumping fee.[2]
- Bulk items include appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, water heaters, freezers, washers and dryers.[2]
- Furniture such as mattresses, box springs, sofas, upholstered chairs and tables is collected as bulk.[2]
- Electronics such as stereo equipment, TVs and computers, and garden equipment emptied of fuel, are also collected as bulk.[2]
- Tires are taken as bulk, up to 4 per household, with a $5.00 fee per tire.[2]
- Propane tanks, hazardous materials and liquids are not accepted for bulk pickup.[2]
- Keep bulk items at least 3 feet from cars, mailboxes, water meters and backflow assemblies, and never on meters, meter boxes or sprinklers.[2]
- Yard waste items or bundles that weigh 50 lbs. or more or are longer than 4 feet count as bulk yard waste and are picked up by request at 941-708-6340.[3]
- Bulk and large volume yard waste pickups are charged $17.87 per cubic yard to the service address.[3]
- Regular yard waste collection is for routine yard maintenance, not large landscaping or tree removal jobs.[3]
- Lawn care, tree trimming and tree removal businesses must haul away the yard waste they generate.[3]
- If a storm hits and the city's Debris Management Plan is activated, sort curbside debris into vegetative debris, construction materials and appliances.[3]
- Regular trash, routine yard trimmings and items set out before a storm are not treated as storm debris once the Debris Management Plan is activated.[3]
Bradenton trash pickup schedule
- Household trash is collected twice a week, either Mondays and Thursdays or Tuesdays and Fridays, depending on your address.[2]
- Yard waste is collected once a week on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday depending on your address, and must be at the curb by 6 a.m.[3]
- Trash must be in your green city-issued container at the curb by 6 a.m. on collection day.[2]
- Bags or items leaned against the cart are not collected; everything must be in the cart with the lid closed.[2]
- Place the cart within 2 feet of the curb, handle facing away, and at least 3 feet from cars, mailboxes and meters.[2]
- Garbage carts cannot hold yard waste, concrete, dirt, carpet, lumber, bricks, roofing, construction debris, tires, auto or rechargeable batteries, pool chemicals, flammable items or liquid paint.[2]
- Extra yard waste that does not fit in the blue cart must go in paper yard waste bags or be bundled with rope or twine; yard waste in plastic bags is not collected.[3]
- Limbs and branches must be no longer than 3 feet and no more than 6 inches in diameter, and each bundle or container must weigh less than 50 pounds.[3]
- For Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 26, 2026, Thursday pickup moves to Friday and Friday pickup moves to Saturday.[2]
- For Christmas, Friday, December 25, 2026, Friday pickup moves to Saturday.[2]

- When a storm is coming, all curbside waste service stops up to 48 hours before landfall, so do not put trash or debris at the curb.[3]

Lena Road Landfill
Run by: Lena Road Landfill is Manatee County's landfill, run by the Solid Waste Division of Manatee County Utilities.[5]
Address: The landfill is at 3333 Lena Road, Bradenton, FL 34211, south of State Road 64 and 1 mile east of I-75.[5]
Hours: The landfill is open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except holiday closures.[5]

Fees
- The current landfill rate and fee schedule took effect 10/01/2026 under R-25-149.[5]
- Garbage is $48.24 per ton with a $24.12 minimum.[5]
- Construction and demolition debris is $68.17 per ton with a $34.08 minimum.[5]
- Yard waste and white goods or appliances are each $46.14 per ton with a $24.12 minimum.[5]
- Tires are $173.04 per ton with an $86.52 minimum.[5]
- Cars, SUVs and passenger minivans can use the residential drop-off site for a flat $5.00; trucks and anything towing a trailer are excluded from that rate.[5]
- Residential pickup trucks without trailers can use the residential drop-off site for a flat $23.00 for loads under 1,000 lbs.[5]
- Fees are doubled for uncovered or improperly separated loads, and waste from outside Manatee County is charged triple.[5]
Accepted
- Scrap metal, tires, yard waste, appliances and household garbage are accepted for a fee.[5]
- Household hazardous waste and electronic waste are free for Manatee County residents only.[5]
Not accepted
- Car parts and vehicles are not accepted.[5]
Rules
- Every vehicle must cross the scales at the scale house, and payment is by cash, check or major credit card.[5]
- Soils, fill dirt, sludge and similar special wastes need prior approval, and asbestos drop-offs must be scheduled at least 24 hours ahead.[5]
- Scavenging is prohibited anywhere at the landfill.[5]
- The landfill closes on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.[5]

City of Bradenton Recycling Drop-off Sites
Run by: The City of Bradenton runs several recycling drop-off sites for city residents.[4]
Address: Sites are at 100 22nd St. NE next to the city lift station, 1000 24th St. E. next to the Dream Center, and the Lewis Park parking lot at 3120 1st Ave. W.[4]
Hours: The drop-off sites are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.[4]
Accepted
- Accepted items include paper, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, aluminum and steel cans, plastic bottles and containers, and milk and juice cartons, rinsed.[4]
Not accepted
- Do not leave garbage, yard waste, plastic bags, Styrofoam, batteries, hoses, electronics or large plastic items such as pools, coolers or toys.[4]

Hazardous waste disposal in Bradenton
- Household hazardous waste should never go in your regular trash, and the city hauler will not collect it.[2]
- The city directs Bradenton residents to the free Manatee County household hazardous waste and e-scrap drop off at the Lena Road Landfill on the third Saturday of every month, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.[2]
- Carry chemicals in the trunk or rear of your vehicle in sturdy, disposable boxes, keep them in original labeled containers, and do not mix them.[6]
- Regular alkaline batteries with no mercury can go in the trash, but rechargeable, lead-acid, lithium and Ni-cad batteries are hazardous waste.[6]
- Empty or dried paint cans can go in the trash; cans with liquid paint must be used up, donated or dried out first.[6]
- Free approved sharps containers are available at the Manatee County Health Department, 410 6th Ave. East in Bradenton.[6]
- The Sheriff's Office takes unused or expired pills and inhalers through Project Drug Drop; syringes and liquids are not accepted.[6]

Manatee County Household Hazardous Waste and E-Scrap Drop-off (Lena Road Landfill)
Run by: Manatee County runs a free household hazardous waste service for Manatee County residents only.[6]
Address: Drop off is at the Lena Road Landfill, 3333 Lena Road, Bradenton, the third traffic light east of I-75 off State Road 64.[6]
Hours: Household hazardous waste is taken Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and every third Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.[6]

Accepted
- Accepted household hazardous waste includes products labeled poison, danger, warning or caution, such as paint, pesticides, motor oil, gasoline, propane tanks, fluorescent bulbs and rechargeable batteries.[6]
- Residents can drop off electronics such as TVs, monitors, computers, printers and cell phones free Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on third Saturdays.[6]
Not accepted
- Toasters, vacuums and mixers or blenders are not accepted as e-scrap.[6]
- The county does not accept material generated by a commercial business.[6]
- Sharps are not taken here; the Health Department runs the only sharps collection program in Manatee County.[6]
Rules
- The remaining 2026 third Saturday collection dates are October 17, November 21 and December 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.[6]
- The county page says residents of unincorporated Manatee County may bring unwanted gasoline and diesel on weekdays in containers they do not want back; staff cannot pour gasoline on weekdays, so come on a third Saturday if you want your containers returned.[6]
- Wait for staff to direct you, turn off your engine once stopped, and tell staff what you brought before unloading onto the cart.[6]
Check with the city first
- City of Bradenton pages describe household hazardous waste drop off only on the third Saturday, while the county lists weekday hours too, so call Manatee County Utilities at (941) 792-8811 before you go.
- The city's yard waste page lists Thanksgiving as Thursday, November 27, while its garbage page and holiday flyer say November 26, 2026, so confirm holiday pickup days with Solid Waste at (941) 708-6340.
- Bulk pickup is billed per item and you must call within 48 hours of putting items out, and Manatee County landfill rates changed on October 1, 2026, so confirm current fees before you haul.
- Before and after a storm the city may stop curbside service and run a separate debris plan, so check city storm notices before setting debris out.
