Who picks up trash in Orlando
- Inside Orlando city limits, trash and recycling collection is handled by the City of Orlando Solid Waste Division.[1]
- The city warns that an Orlando mailing address may actually be in unincorporated Orange County, where Orange County Utilities handles waste services.[7]
- The Solid Waste Division can be reached at 407.246.2314 or swcustomersvc@orlando.gov, and its main office is at 1028 Woods Avenue.[2]
Bulk trash pickup in Orlando
- The city picks up some furniture, appliances and other large items for free on your yard waste day, with no need to schedule.[2]
- You can put up to two large items at the curb on yard waste day for free pickup.[2]
- Free items must be loadable by hand, and the city takes two of them for free.[2]
- Qualifying appliances include standard household refrigerators, dishwashers, and clothes washers and dryers.[2]
- Qualifying furniture includes sofas, chairs, dressers, TV consoles and similar items.[2]
- Items too big or heavy to load by hand need a claw truck, and the cost depends on the type and amount of items.[2]
- If items cannot be safely loaded, the city will tell you and you can schedule a pickup by calling 407.246.2314.[2]
- Place items at the edge of your property and keep them clear of the street, sidewalk, mailboxes, trees, poles, hydrants and storm drains.[2]
- Remove all doors from refrigerators and freezers before putting them at the curb.[2]
- For many items, the city suggests requesting a dumpster or using a dumpster bag it can pick up.[2]
- The city picks up dumpster bags for $100 per bag, billed on your OUC bill within one to two bill cycles.[3]
- Dumpster bags are picked up within 3 to 5 working days after you request it, and the bag must stay at the curb until then.[3]
- Dumpster bags cannot hold food waste, yard waste, or hazardous materials, chemicals or paint, and must not exceed the bag's rated weight.[3]
- The city rents roll-off dumpsters in 20 yard and 30 yard sizes for addresses inside city limits.[4]
- Roll-off dumpster weight is charged by the ton, and hazardous materials are prohibited.[4]
Orlando trash pickup schedule
- The city's pick-up schedule page lets you look up your trash, recycling and yard waste days, view holiday schedules and sign up for reminders.[5]
- Recycling carts take clean plastic bottles and containers, glass bottles and jars, cans, flattened cardboard and paper.[6]
- Do not put plastic bags, food waste, foam cups and containers, or aluminum food pans in the recycling cart.[6]
- After a storm, residents can report curbside storm debris to the city, which says it will be collected within about six weeks.[7]
- Storm debris mixed with household garbage, or left in backyards, driveways or behind fences, will not be collected.[7]

- Yard waste costs $48.70 per ton at the landfill.[8]
- Up to 8 passenger tires cost $3.00 each; larger tire loads cost $249.00 per ton.[8]
- Asbestos is accepted by appointment only at $185.00 per ton.[8]

Rules
- The county lists this site as closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.[8]
- Only vehicle and trailer combinations under 30 feet may use the small vehicle drop off area, and only manual unloading is allowed there.[8]

Hazardous waste disposal in Orlando
- Orange County residents can drop off household hazardous and electronic waste for free; no commercial waste is accepted.[9]
- Drop off sites are the Orange County Landfill and Porter Transfer Station, both open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.[9]
- The county lists a community collection event on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at East River High School.[9]
- Paint and chemicals are limited to 25 gallons per vehicle.[9]
- Do not bring explosives, ammunition, tires, fireworks, flares, prescription drugs or rear projection TVs to HHW drop off.[9]
- Propane tanks up to 20 lbs. are taken at the transfer station and events, and tanks up to 100 lbs. at the landfill.[9]
- Electronics with a circuit board, such as phones, computers, tablets and TVs, go to HHW sites and events, not the recycling cart.[9]
- HHW includes paint, pesticides, propane tanks, cooking oil, fluorescent bulbs, car fluids, rechargeable batteries, cleaners and pool chemicals.[9]
- The City of Orlando prohibits hazardous waste in its roll-off dumpsters and directs residents to Orange County for disposal.[4]

- An Orlando mailing address does not always mean city service, so confirm whether your home is inside Orlando city limits or in unincorporated Orange County.
