Hours, fees and pickup rules change, especially after storms and at the start of a new fiscal year. Every line below links to the official page it came from. Confirm with Gulf Shores or Baldwin County before you load the truck.

Who picks up trash in Gulf Shores

  • The City of Gulf Shores contracts with Republic Services for weekly residential household garbage collection.[1]
  • To set up trash service, residents contact Republic Services at 888-425-7667.[1]
  • The city itself runs a weekly residential debris pickup for yard debris, cardboard, old furniture and white goods.[1]
  • For debris pickup questions, contact the Gulf Shores Public Works Department at 251-968-1440.[1]
  • Baldwin County's Solid Waste Disposal Authority runs the county's landfills and the Bay Minette Transfer Station.[3]

Bulk trash pickup in Gulf Shores

  • Gulf Shores debris pickup takes yard debris, cardboard boxes, old furniture and white goods.[1]
  • You do not need to call to schedule; debris pickup happens weekly on your route day, shown on the city's debris route map.[2]
  • Put debris out the night before your pickup or by 6:15 am the morning of.[2]
  • Only residential single family homes qualify for city debris pickup; businesses, condos and hotels do not.[2]
  • The debris truck takes yard debris, boxes, furniture and appliances, but no household trash such as kitchen, pet or medical waste.[2]
  • The county authority's own bulky pickup program does not serve addresses inside city limits, so Gulf Shores residents use the city debris service.[4]

Gulf Shores trash pickup schedule

  • North of 2nd Ave, Republic picks up garbage once a week on either Monday or Thursday, depending on your area.[1]
  • South of and including 2nd Ave, in the Beach Rental District, garbage is picked up twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays.[1]
  • The city posts a residential garbage route map to find your pickup day.[1]
  • Containers go 1 to 5 feet from the street or alley edge, clear of traffic and bike lanes.[1]
  • Set containers out no earlier than 4 p.m. the day before collection and bring them in by 7 p.m. on collection day.[1]
  • On Beach Boulevard (AL Highway 182), containers go to designated collection points no earlier than 4 a.m. on collection day.[1]
  • Curbside recycling carts should be out the night before or by 6 a.m. on service day.[1]
  • The holiday schedule posted on the city page when checked was the 2025 schedule, running through New Year's Day 2026.[1]
  • On that schedule, trash and recycling routes ran one day behind for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.[1]

Landfill

Magnolia Landfill

Run by: The Solid Waste Disposal Authority of Baldwin County runs the Magnolia Landfill, the county's only municipal solid waste landfill.[5]

Address: SWDA lists the Magnolia Landfill at 15480 Terra Bella Drive, Summerdale, AL 36580.[6]

Hours: Magnolia Landfill hours are Monday through Friday 7 AM to 4 PM and Saturday 7 AM to 12 PM.[6]

Accepted

  • It accepts household garbage, commercial waste, construction and demolition debris, yard waste, limbs and stumps, furniture and bulky items, and tires.[5]
  • Gulf Shores tells residents they can take paint to the Magnolia Landfill between the city's special recycling days.[1]

Rules

  • The city page gives a different address for the landfill, 15093 Landfill Drive, Summerdale, which is also the SWDA office address.[1]

Landfill

Eastfork Landfill (construction and demolition)

Run by: Eastfork is one of SWDA's two construction and demolition landfills and is not meant for household garbage.[5]

Address: Eastfork Landfill is at 29751 Eastfork Landfill Road, Elberta, AL 36530.[6]

Hours: Eastfork hours are Monday through Friday 7 AM to 4 PM and Saturday 7 AM to 12 PM.[6]

Phone: The Eastfork Landfill phone number is 251-972-8553.[6]

Accepted

  • Eastfork and MacBride accept yard debris, rubbish, construction and demolition debris, and electronics separated from other debris.[5]

Not accepted

  • They do not accept hazardous materials or liquids, household garbage, oil, paint, batteries or asbestos.[5]
  • Debris from outside Baldwin County is not accepted.[5]

Landfill

MacBride Landfill (construction and demolition)

Address: MacBride Landfill is at 26941 McBride Road, Loxley, AL 36551.[6]

Hours: MacBride hours are Monday through Friday 7 AM to 4 PM and Saturday 7 AM to 12 PM.[6]

Transfer station

Bay Minette Transfer Station

Run by: SWDA operates the Bay Minette Transfer Station in north Baldwin County, with a certified operator on site during public hours.[7]

Address: The transfer station is at 43205 Nicholsville Road, Bay Minette, AL 36507.[7]

Hours: Transfer station hours are Monday through Friday 7 AM to 4 PM and Saturday 7 AM to 12 PM.[7]

Accepted

  • It accepts non hazardous solid waste from Baldwin County residents and approved users, including household garbage, construction debris, tires, limbs and stumps.[7]

Recycling

Gulf Shores Drop-Off Recycling Center

Run by: The City of Gulf Shores operates a drop-off recycling center where items must be sorted into the proper bins.[1]

Address: The city's FAQ gives the location as 19901 W 36th Ave., behind Mobile Lumber, which differs from the address on the main trash page.[2]

Hours: The drop-off center is open 24/7.[2]

Accepted

  • It accepts Styrofoam, cardboard, plastic and plastic bags, paper, cans, household batteries, glass jars and bottles, and scrap metal.[1]

Not accepted

  • The center does not accept medical waste, aerosol cans, paint or tires outside special recycling days.[1]

Rules

  • The city will recycle appliances as scrap metal but does not pay cash for scrap.[2]

Hazardous waste disposal in Gulf Shores

  • Gulf Shores holds Special Recycling Days for electronics, fluorescent bulbs and paint, which are not normally accepted.[1]
  • The 2026 Special Recycling Days are March 21 to 30, June 20 to 29, September 26 to October 5, and December 19, 2026 to January 5, 2027.[1]
  • The city sends gasoline, household chemicals, pool chemicals, tires and insecticide to the Baldwin County Magnolia Landfill, listing 15140 County Road 49, Summerdale.[1]
  • The city says automotive batteries and motor oil are accepted locally at the Walmart Auto Care Center at 170 E Fort Morgan Road.[1]
  • A prescription drug drop box is in the Gulf Shores Police Department lobby at 220 Clubhouse Drive.[1]
  • For household medical waste, the city says to ask your healthcare provider about handling and disposal.[1]
  • At SWDA CHaRM centers, liquids and hazardous materials should be sealed and labeled, and leaking items should not be brought without calling first.[8]

Hazardous waste drop off

Orange Beach CHaRM (Center for Hard to Recycle Materials)

Run by: SWDA runs CHaRM drop-off centers for Baldwin County residents to dispose of hard to recycle materials.[8]

Address: The Orange Beach CHaRM is at 22510 Russian Road, Gulf Shores, AL 36542.[8]

Hours: The Orange Beach CHaRM is open Monday through Friday 10AM to 6PM and Saturday 7 AM to noon, with no appointment needed.[8]

Fees

  • Paint and household hazardous waste are typically $2 per gallon, electronics $5 per unit, car batteries $2 each and propane or fire extinguisher tanks $4 each.[8]

Accepted

  • Common recyclables, small household batteries and light bulbs can be dropped off free.[8]

Not accepted

  • CHaRMs do not take tires, mattresses, furniture, white goods, construction debris or medical waste.[8]

Rules

  • CHaRMs accept cash, card, local checks and money orders.[8]

Check with the city first

  • Inside Gulf Shores, Republic Services handles household garbage under a city contract while the city runs weekly debris pickup; the county authority's bulky pickup does not serve city addresses. Check the city route maps for your days.
  • Official pages list three different addresses for the Magnolia Landfill area, so use the SWDA directions link or call 251-972-6878 before you drive.
  • Landfill disposal fees were not posted on the SWDA pages checked, so ask for current rates before hauling a load.
  • The city's holiday collection list was still the 2025 schedule when checked, and the drop-off recycling center address differs between two city pages. Confirm with Public Works around holidays.
