Who picks up trash in Pensacola

  • Inside Pensacola city limits, the City of Pensacola collects household trash, recycling and yard trash.[8]
  • Outside the city, in unincorporated Escambia County, the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority (ECUA) collects household trash, recycling and yard trash.[8]
  • ECUA serves all of Escambia County except the city of Pensacola and the town of Century, so your provider depends on your address.[8]
  • Garbage collection is mandatory inside the City of Pensacola, and city customers pay a monthly fee for once a week service.[2]
  • City customers use city owned wheeled containers, and only containers provided by the city are accepted for service.[2]
  • City of Pensacola Sanitation Services office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, and the phone number is 850-435-1890.[1]
  • ECUA's standard residential sanitation charge is $31.86 a month for one weekly pickup that includes garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk waste.[9]
  • ECUA customer service is at 850-476-0480.[8]

Bulk trash pickup in Pensacola

  • Inside city limits, the City of Pensacola offers special collection of bulky items too large for your city garbage container.[3]
  • City bulky collection typically covers old furniture, household appliances and small amounts of home repair or remodeling debris.[3]
  • The city charges a fee for bulky collection, and the fee is significantly lower if you schedule it than if the pickup is not scheduled.[3]
  • To schedule a city bulky pickup, call Sanitation Services at 850-435-1890 or use the city's online request form.[3]
  • The city does not collect debris containing concrete, bricks, dirt, sod, roofing materials, shingles or any hazardous waste.[3]
  • Waste generated by a contractor must be disposed of by the contractor, not set out for city collection.[3]
  • Through the Mayor's Neighborhood Cleanup, every city neighborhood gets one curbside cleanup day a year between January and October.[4]
  • The city lists the next Mayor's Neighborhood Cleanup as October 24, 2026; check the city's interactive map to see which area it covers.[4]
  • For a cleanup day, items must be at the curb before 7:00 am and should not be put out more than three days early.[4]
  • Cleanup day accepts items such as appliances, electronics, household junk, furniture, mattresses, carpeting, grills without propane tanks, tires and old paint.[4]
  • Cleanup day does not take building materials such as concrete, bricks, roofing or drywall, or more than one cubic yard of lumber.[4]
  • For ECUA customers outside city limits, bulk pickup must be requested; it is not automatic.[9]
  • ECUA bulk requests must be made online or in the MyECUA app by 1:59 pm the day before your collection day.[9]
  • ECUA collects one bulk pile per week, no larger than 6 feet wide, 6 feet deep and 6 feet high.[9]
  • ECUA asks that bulk items go out the night before collection and not more than 48 hours before pickup.[9]
  • ECUA bulk pickup is not for construction or remodeling debris, excessive trash, mixed piles, contractor waste or hazardous materials.[9]
  • ECUA bulk pickup takes tires only when separated from other bulk waste, with a limit of 5 per month.[9]
  • ECUA now has to keep mattresses separate from other bulk items, so some bulk pickups may be completed in two trips.[9]
  • Loads beyond ECUA's bulk limits can be handled through its Extra Sanitation Service for an additional fee, which needs a photo and is requested on Mondays only.[9]

Check with the city first

  • Your trash provider depends on your address: inside Pensacola city limits it is City of Pensacola Sanitation Services, and in most of unincorporated Escambia County it is ECUA. Use each provider's address lookup before scheduling a bulk pickup.
  • When this guide was checked, the city sanitation pages carried a Tropical Storm Isaias notice postponing Friday collection. Storm schedules and debris rules change quickly, so check city, ECUA and county storm updates before setting anything out.
  • Escambia County pages disagree on the Perdido Landfill Saturday opening time, and the county fee schedule PDF carries no date. Call Waste Services before hauling a load.
  • The city charges a fee for bulky item collection but does not post the amount online, so ask for the price when you schedule.
